As someone who has spent more than 35 years maximizing the physical and cognitive potential of aging humans, I have learned what works. Chronic disease management, brain health, physical rehabilitation, fitness and wellness.... I have a fairly well-rounded understanding of what it means to age in the modern world. What doesn't work is a different story, one that requires a 10,000 foot view of public resources and infrastructure. Until now, the public park sector has been a solution hiding in plain site for addressing many of the pitfalls of simply growing older. Senior parks are not just a nice-to-have amenity... they are critical public infrastructure for healthy aging.
